Description: The objective of the grant project to conduct a workshop after series of intense one-on-one training for researchers from the global South to fill the gap in the climate change research through investigative inquiry into science and then subsequent publication in their respective field. This project extends collaboration between Pakistani- and Oxford scientists work in the similar field for collaboration and mentoring to create multi-disciplinary debate in climate change.

2.   Title & Time Period: Planning in Germany and Pakistan: Responding Challenges of Climate Change through Intercultural Dialogue. 2022-24

Description: Develop teaching and research linkage among cross-continental universities to stimulate an academic network through one summer school (Pakistan) and one winter school (Germany). Development of qualification and inter-cultural skills of students and academician from all sides through discipline-specific methodological cooperation. Remodeling and upgradation of teaching through the establishment of innovative methodologies, like module-oriented curricula and linking teaching and research. Contribute to a greater understanding of planning as well as societal and ecological processes in the countries of the partner institutes. Complement present teaching curriculum and encourage academics to assure gender equality through interdisciplinary and pedagogical training and recommending on qualification of education on different levels (BSc, MSc, and in the mid-term PhD).

3.  Title & Time Period: The Pakistan Publishing and Mentoring Workshop – Tackling Climate Change Challenges in Pakistan, 2022-22.

Description: It’s a four-day workshop based on an interdisciplinary group of early-career Pakistani researchers engaged in research on the topic; climate change vulnerability in Pakistan. The objectives of the workshop were to; build writing capacity amongst local Pakistani researchers, conduct peer review and writing mentorship, and produce a special issue geared toward the Journal of Climate and Development. It was also to build connections between Pakistani-UK researchers to foster ongoing academic exchange, collaboration, and mentorship to bridge the research deficit and equip local researchers to apply for global grants and to add their voice to the global disciplinary debates on climate change.

4.   Title & Time Period: Adaptation to Climate Change: Building Resistant Livelihood for the Vulnerable Communities of Hazara and Malakand

Description: The aim of this research project was to analyse the adverse effects of flooding on the livelihood, and economic status and the rise in poverty amongst the poor community in (11 districts) of Hazara and Malakand Division, KP Pakistan. Also, the study has examined local mitigation strategies and institutional responses to increase resilient. Three research papers, based the study findings, are published in journals: 1x in Natural Hazards (IF=2.427) and 2x in Environmental Sciences and Pollution Research (IF=4.223).
